Seal of Approval Re-Accreditation

E-mail Print PDF

North Shields RFC youth section is delighted to announce that it has been re-accredited with the Seal of Approval Award following a recent audit.

The Seal of Approval accreditation programme was initially introduced in 2002 as a method of examining, maintaining and improving the provision of rugby in the mini and youth section of a rugby club. Building upon good practices, the accreditation aims to recognise the effort and achievement of those clubs that reach, maintain and improve on the required standard of a club committed to the provision of quality rugby union experiences for young players.

The scheme is based upon a 3 year rolling award system which involves an assessment of how a mini and youth section is being managed and on its continuing ability to provide a safe and effective club environment.

The club was initially awarded the Seal of Approval Award in 2006 by completing a comprehensive assessment file and writing a three year development plan. The re-accreditation process included a review of the youth development plan, a health check on all of our youth policies, our youth section management structure, coaches qualifications, membership records, welfare aspects, club facilities and our links with the community.

This award indicates that North Shields RFC is continually committed to the development and growth of rugby and provides quality coaching and facilities for its youth players.

The accreditation process involved members of the youth section attending various courses including:

·        Good Practice and Child Protection (Sports Coach UK)

·        Best Practice & Child Protection (RFU)

·        Safeguarding and Protecting Children (RFU)

·        Equity in Coaching (Sports Coach UK)

·        A Club for All (Sports Coach UK)

·        Sports Injury Prevention and Management (Sports Coach UK)

·        First Aid (Tyne and Wear Sports Development)

·        Community Coach Tag Course (RFU)

·        Level 1 and Level 2 Certificates in Coaching Rugby Union (1st4sport)

·        RFU Entry Level Referees Award (ELRA)

The club is grateful to Chairman of Youth Ian Tubman for all of the time consuming and effort he has put into gaining this re accreditation.

NSRFC is always looking for volunteers and helpers to bring on youngsters and breath new life into the club.
