North Shields 1st XV – 0

Blyth 1st XV – 83

North Shields travelled to league leaders Blyth weekend. Shields found the opening exchanges tough and soon found themselves trailing by two tries. On both occasions Blyth used their speed in the back line to evade the Shields defence and score in the corner. The Shields scrum also struggled against a larger pack. However, Shields showed good character and spirit to prevent Blyth crossing the line on numerous occasions.  Despite this Blyth continued to add to their total. The Blyth number 8 picked from the base and popped neatly inside to the scrum half that sprinted eighty metres to score. Shields did mount some pressure of their own when several Blyth infringements allowed Shields to kick for touch and use the lineout. When Shields kept the ball in tight they were able to compete better. However, as soon as Blyth spread the ball the Shields defence was breached with ease. At half-time Shields were still just about in the contest with Blyth 29-0.

Washington 66

North Shields Crusaders 12

North Shields Crusaders travelled to Washington for a second attempt for this county league fixture after the failure of the referee to arrive for the original date in September. It was first versus third with both sides enjoying a good run in the league but it was the home side Washington he topped the table.

The Crusaders welcomed back Jack Jeffrey to side after being on first team duty last week, the pack was boosted by the return of Dave Alder and the Allot twins both started on the bench.
