North Shields RFC held its annual end of the season players verses veterans match known as Chesties Challenge and awards dinner this Saturday.
The match was a tight affair with the youngsters winning by a single point. They scored all their points in the first half with tries from Matthew Lowes, Rhys Coltherd and Mark Hall, Gavin Duffy was successful with all three conversions. The veterans saw Fen Taylor scoring a try and Lee Austin a conversion and penalty to make the half-time score 21-10.
The second half saw both sides ringing the changes to give everyone a game. The veterans hit back with tries from Dave Kay and Rob Dixon but were unsuccessful with either conversion and that gave the final score of 21-20 to the younger side.
